Our Identity in Christ and the Authority of the Believer, by brother John
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:17; Mark 16:15–18; Luke 10:19
Today's message reminded us that through Christ we are new creations. As the Bible declares in 2 Corinthians 5:17, those who are in Christ have become a new creation. We are no longer merely people trying to serve God; we have been made new in Christ, the Second Adam, and are partakers of His divine nature.
Because of our new identity in Christ, God has entrusted believers with His authority and power to carry out the Great Commission. Jesus commanded His disciples to preach the gospel to all the world, promising that those who believe would be saved and that signs would accompany those who believe. The miracles performed by the apostles demonstrated the authority Christ gave His followers and pointed to the life made possible through His resurrection.
The same power and authority are available to believers today. Jesus has given us authority over the works of the enemy and has called us to proclaim the gospel, pray for the sick, and bring deliverance to those in bondage. As we faithfully obey His calling, God works through us to reveal His Kingdom, for the world is waiting for the revealing of the sons of God.
Key Message: Know your identity in Christ, walk in the authority He has given you, and boldly share the gospel so that lives may be transformed by the power of God.
